STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES

The Democratic Socialists of Vancouver (DSoV) is a membership-based democratic, inclusive, and pluralist organization dedicated to a democratic transition from capitalism to socialism.

DSoV aims to bring about this transition through mass organization of the working class - in the workplace, in the places we live, at the ballot, and beyond. 

 

The DSOV are heartbroken by the tragedy at the Lapu Lapu Day Festival last night. We send our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives, to the injured, and to the entire Filipino community in Vancouver and across Canada.

The Lapu Lapu Day Festival is a celebration of resilience, pride, and community. We stand in solidarity with the Filipino community. We honour the lives lost, and we commit ourselves to working for a world where events like this do not happen. A world where all communities can gather in safety and peace.

We encourage everyone to check in with one another, to seek support if needed, and to join together at upcoming community vigils and memorials.
