Statement of Solidarity

STATEMENT OF SOLIDARITY

The DSoV stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

We unequivocally condemn both Putin’s imperialist invasion and NATO’s continued expansionism. We join in the resounding call for an immediate peace echoing across the globe. We applaud ordinary Ukrainians resisting this imperialist invasion, and our anti-war comrades in Russia, who have taken to the streets against this invasion. Unlike the warmongers in the Western corporate media, who are excitedly beating the drum for brutal economic sanctions that would harm working-class Russians while letting the oligarchs get away scot-free, we reject any escalations of war or strife. National-chauvinism is not the answer. We condemn acts of unfair discrimination that have been committed against ordinary Vancouverites of Russian heritage, who played no part in this invasion. Working-class internationalism, which puts peace and justice at the heart of its project, is our answer to this crisis.
