DSOV AGM & CONVENTION

Once a year, typically in November, the DSOV holds a membership AGM. At this assembly we will have presentations from the Steering Committee, working groups, and we will elect 9 new members for a Steering Committee moving into 2024.

If a Voting Member wishes to propose any amendments to these by-laws, they must inform the Steering Committee at least 21 days prior to the general meeting (Nov 5), who will circulate the proposed amendment at least 14 days (Nov 12) prior to the general meeting.

ELECTIONS

The work of the DSOV organization is carried out primarily through working groups which are open for all voting members to form and join. These Working Groups are governed by the overarching DSOV Basis of Unity, Bylaws, and Code of Conduct. Beyond that they operate autonomously with the support of an elected administrative body called the Steering Committee (SC).

We hope all members will consider stepping up and sitting on the SC for a year. Essential requirements are:

1. Attend meetings - One hour meetings, usually on Zoom or Discord
2. Take on administrative tasks (see Roles link above)
3. Represent the DSOV at public events.

Beyond that, each SC, grounded on the work done in previous years, moves forward according to its members’ skillsets and aspirations.
