On Jan 30, 2022, the Democratic Socialists of Vancouver voted to pass a Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions resolution within the organization, which also included the creation of the DSOV BDS Working Group. The BDS Working Group includes consultations with members of DSOV and the Palestinian Youth Movement. 

The BDS working group will be implementing a variety of different initiatives with a broad target audience, mostly those not familiar with the Palestinian liberation movement around Vancouver. 

While the BDS working group understands that power and momentum is built through the grassroots level, as the group develops and grows, its work will include, but is not limited to, BDS 101 workshops and teach-ins, how to incorporate BDS in your personal and professional life (workplace),  BDS campaigns geared toward City Council members and local elected officials, and educational collaborations with other organizations.

We strongly encourage all those who planned to attend the Teach-In to go to the Nakba 74 rally at the Vancouver Art Gallery on Sunday, May 15 in solidarity with Palestinians continuing to resist and fight against Israeli aggression.

DSoV is attempting to arrange some carpools to cut down on emissions and make sure members without vehicles can get to the rally or the Teach-In. If you would like to volunteer your vehicle for or need a ride to either event, please email us & we will try to arrange it!

The first event to come out of the DSOV BDS resolution is a teach-in on May 21st at 1:30pm hosted by members of the Palestinian Youth Movement to the general DSOV membership.  Lunch will be provided for attendees.
