WHAT IS THE STEERING COMMITTEE?

Here are our Bylaws, outlining Steering Committee activities and responsibilities. Your term on the committee will last one year. We hope as a DSOV member you’ll consider being nominated to sit on the Steering Committee.

Steering Committee

  1. The Steering Committee of the DSoV will consist of 5-9 members.

    1. At least 60% of the members (eg. 6 of 9) of the Steering Committee will come from equity-seeking groups.

  2. The membership of the DSoV will elect Steering Committee members at the Annual General Meeting of the DSoV.

  3. The Steering Committee will implement decisions made at general meetings and coordinate the affairs of the DSoV between general meetings.

  4. If the Steering Committee makes a decision between general meetings, they will report that decision to the membership at the next general meeting and facilitate discussion in regard to that decision.

  5. The Steering Committee will ensure that DSoV funds are spent equitably and fairly in the pursuit of the DSoV’s goals. Expenditures in excess of $1000.00 will be voted on by the general membership at a general meeting.

  6. The Steering Committee will serve a term until the next Annual General Meeting.

If there is a vacancy on the Steering Committee, the membership will elect a new Steering Committee member at the next general meeting of the DSoV.

HOW WILL THE NOMINATIONS WORK?

Nominations for Steering Committee will close at the Annual General Meeting.

The Nominations Chair is Yvonne Hanson

If there are more than nine nominations we will use a secure Google Survey Form for voting. A nominee list will be sent out to the membership Monday, with a link to the voting form. Voting will close Midnight Oct 6.

If you’re not able to attend in person, you can send your nomination to Yvonne with the subject line: DSOV Nomination - Yvonne will include your nomination with others at the AGM.

Only members of the DSOV can nominate a candidate. New members can join by clicking the Join the DSOV button at the top right of this page.

How do I know if I’m a member? If you receive email newsletters from the DSOV you are a member.
